I need some fun new music to add to my iPod. I can download just about anything from itunes....but I seem to be stuck in a rut. Anyone have any recommendations for some fun new tunes (past or present)...my ipod is ready for some new downloads! My musical tastes are pretty varied - right now I have everything from musicals to 80s to hard rock to jazz to country to bubble gum pop from the Disney channel on my ipod - so I'm open to anything. :)
PS Mom...has Dad had time to play with his iPod yet?

WEll there's this new song out on the radio by some rapper/singer that is a remix to the song "do your ears hang low." Instead they say "do your chains hang low" and it's all about the bling...i think. I will ask my students tomorrow. They'll know. Carsyn loves it because it's a song she learned at school!
Everyone's gotta have "I like big butts." You just never know when you are in the mood for that one! Plus early Madonna and even early NSync. Can you tell we've had the satellite tv on XM radio all day...90's on 9. Great channel
OK, You asked for it. Here's some of my most recently played songs from my iPod:
(*warning: my music taste is VERY eclectic!)
I like to go to iTunes and find an artist/song I like, and click on "other users who bought this also purchased..." You get good ideas from that!
P.s....I have 14,000 songs on our iTunes, so this is just the TIP of a very huge iceberg!

"Son's Gonna Rise" - Citizen Cope & Santana

and another thing: I'm going to iTunes right NOW to check into "do your chains hang low"!!!
I do not have a personal ipod, but Tom does, so I make music requests and then listen to "my tunes" when the ipod is in its docking station in the family room. My suggestion is holiday music! I just told Tom that it is almost October and time to download lots of Christmas music. Aunt Barb
1. Thanks so much for all the fun suggestions so far...I've made a list and can't wait to check some out.
2. Brenda - I'm totally going to go check out that song. I've never heard it...but music always seems to catch on faster at HHHS than VWHS.
3. Lori - I totally have eclectic music taste too. Your list sounds similar to what my list of favorites would be!
4. Barb - great idea to download Christmas music. I can't wait to make some fun Christmas music CDs with a mix of different artists!
Keep 'em coming!!!
Ok, Lori beat me to it, but KT Tunstall songs are great. Check them out if you don't have them already. What about Joy and Pain, a personal favorite from my past? Think of those songs you're always hoping to hear on Way Back Wednesday. We could supply you with lots of good rap songs if you are interested too!
If you download Joy and Pain, you gotta do Come on Eileen too! And my new personal favorite that gets me moving is Justin Timerlake's Bringing Sexy Back. I love it! But be careful- I think it may have explicit lyrics so download the edited version!
My personal, absolute favorite song of all time is Ain't No Mountain High Enough (the Marvin Gaye/Tammy Terrell version is WAY better than the Diana Ross version).
Any Motown is ALWAYS good...Temptations, Smoky Robinson, The Supremes, those are my fun suggestions =)
Anything that makes me happy to sing along to or brings back good memories, esp. if they're written in the "key of me". American Pie; Bridge Over Troubled Water;Glory Days,Rosalita, Thunder Road (Bruce!);almost anything Motown;Al Green; certain Barbra songs; Beatles Greatest Hits; Sympathy for the Devil, You Can't Always Get what You Want(Stones); Paradise by the Dashboard Light,You Took the Words...(Meatloaf); Copacabana (sadly, Barry sings in my range); Crosby,Stills...; songs that I can harmonize to while driving in my car alone; the "Millie" soundtrack; Funny Girl; female country-pop;
P.S. Don't you hate morning talk radio, &/or commercials, or is that just me?
I'm afraid I am not much help since I don't download. But I would have Barry Manilow (my range also), Rod Stewart's Great American Songbook--I have volume III but would like them all, some country (spent 3 months in Texas)some Barbra, plus others. Brenda have you heard the new song "Cleaning my Gun" by somebody Adkins (not Trace). It reminded me of Scott in about 12 years. MOM
Forgot..dad hasn't gotten his ipod done yet--not much time lately but the kitchen looks great. And when he did have time our computer was messed up--really slow moving. So he is still working on it. MOM
Here's another good idea; Go to your library and check out their CD collection, you can get lots of great ideas from that!
Another great sing along song is Gloria (G l o r i a! Glorrrrrria!)
and Knock 3 Times (on the ceiling if you want me....want me...) Oh- and the Pina Colada song!
I also choose songs based on sing-along-ability, and especially those in my range (yeah...barry's good for me too. So is Carly Simon!)
Oh, that's another one : You're so Vain.
