NYC trip....

I think this is the least amount of photos I have ever taken in NYC. Chris and I went for a 3 day trip to celebrate our anniversary, and my main goal was just to relax. We had decided not to do so much of the touristy things and instead spend some time in the parts of the city we don't get to see as much. It was nice not to have a set agenda like we do when we are there with Chris' journalism students. We could just take our time and explore wherever we wanted.

We spent most of the first afternoon walking around Central Park. I know I have said this before, but it is one of my favorite places in the city and I could spend days in the park snapping photos. There are so many interesting walkways, bridges, and tunnels...not to mention all the interesting people that visit!

Benches at the end of the Literary Walk... The Angel Tunnel with Bethesda Fountain in the distance.....and our "friends" Thoth and Pink Angel (we saw them in March when we visited) getting ready for a "prayformance"

Bethesda Fountain...

The Conservatory Water...

Just two of the fun tunnels you see throughout the park...

Belvedere Castle with the Turtle Pond in the foreground...

Strawberry Fields....

Later that evening we took the subway to Brooklyn. Our plan was to eat at Grimaldi's Pizza ....but the line was clear down the street. The views were worth the subway ride to Brooklyn though!
View of Manhattan skyline from Brooklyn...

The Brooklyn Bridge....

On Thursday we went to the Meatpacking area and walked along the High Line park. It is an old above ground railroad that they are making into a park. The first phase just opened in April, so this was brand new to us. It was really pretty and had some great views.

You can still see some of the old rails mixed in with the plants.

Self timer portrait along the walk....

We took the Subway to the Bronx to see the new Yankees Stadium. They were playing the Red Sox in NYC that night, but we chose to go to a broadway play instead.

We celebrated our 15th anniversary with dinner at Ruth's Chris (amazing food!) and then went to see West Side story. I loved it...and even got a little teary eyed at the end.

Nice photos, and it looks like you had a lot nicer weather than in March. The last one is really good. Sounds like a fun getaway.

How fun! Love the pictures. I was just thinking tonight how I would love to go to NYC, I've never been.
